Jeffrey Hayzlett - The Mirror Test

I met Mr. Hayzlett at an ANA conference in Phoenix this past fall. We had a brief conversation about technology and social media while he was waiting to go back stage before his presentation.

Check out his new book The Mirror Test. It's packed with real world marketing insights that every marketer, entrepreneur and business owner needs to know. There's a link to buy the book in the image below.

How to Make Your Images a Resource in Social Media.

All of the top social media experts have thousands of followers because they are a resource for learning about social media. They use Facebook, Twitter, Linked In and YouTube, among others, to share relevant information about social marketing. Most of the time it’s their own, but a lot of the time they post, link and re-tweet other sources. That’s what makes it social media.

Social media channels rely on interesting content to tell a story and images play a big part. Here’s where Tangelo comes in. Tangelo is an image tagging tool that allows you to convert your static images into a relevant, interactive content - a new resource for your audience.

An image tag is a “blurb” that pops up over the image with a description and links to more information about a particular person, place or product in that image. It’s a simple thing that will change the way you look at images forever.

With image tags your fans and followers can now discover what’s inside all your images in your Facebook page, blog, website, and even your twitter “tweets”.

Here are two images. They are the same image, but one has tags powered by Tangelo. Now you tell me which one of these you want to share with your friends?

That’s pretty cool, but there’s more. Every tagged image itself is a social widget. It can be emailed, posted on social networks, embedded in blogs and web pages, even tweeted. Your images are now a true resource in your social media marketing.

But wait, as the infomercials say, there’s more. Because every tagged image is a widget, you can use Tangelo images that other people create. Some of you may use Flickr or other social photo sharing sites to get photos for your blogs. Well you can do the same with a Tangelo image.

Imagine you're tagging this beautiful kitchen image below. You embed it on your web site and blog. You post it to your Facebook fan page, and you “tweet” it to all your followers on twitter. I “like” your Facebook page and I see this image. It’s really cool and would be perfect for my home design blog post I am working on. So, I embed it on my blog. This gives me some cool content to go along with my blog post and you get more people looking and clicking on your image.

Here’s where the power of a Tangelo image gets real interesting. So, let’s say 100 followers see your kitchen image and 10 put it on their blogs or tweet about it to their 500+ fans and followers. All the traffic, from your links, comes back to you. Multiply that over and over and now you see the power of a Tangelo image.

Oh, did I mention you can track all of it.

What to do next? That’s easy, sign up for a free account and start tagging and sharing your images.

With the explosion of social media there is a need to create better content for Facebooking, blogging, tweeting, etc.. Content is king and better content brings better results; re-tweets, followers, fans - whatever you hope to achieve. Images are a huge part of content online. Facebook users alone upload 3 billion, that's BILLION, images a month.

Until now, you might have used Flickr or some other photo sharing site to host/manage your images. That's great, we love those sites too. But, you can only look at those images. Technology tells us we should be able to get anything we want from anywhere online. Now your readers will be able to find the people, places and products INSIDE tagged images in your blogs.

Create and share your tagged images with your friends, family and the world.
